New Avid Venue & Pro Tools stuff spotted in the wild

iPad app, "Venuelink" for Pro Tools, and AVB in this video

VenueLink:
OK -so, the thing I'm MOST excited about here is the "Venuelink" feature.  Wow!  If I could go back and reclaim all the time I spent setting up patching, and marking and naming the beginning of each song on a 2 hour long session...

iPad app:
Mixing monitors from the stage, walking the room to check your mix, using the form factor of the iPad vs a tablet PC or laptop.  Really excited about this.  Ridiculous battery life of the iPad, and an ACTUAL iPad app giving access to everything in the D-Show software, not limited by functionality of a remote VNC app interface.  Nice.

AVB:
So, Harman Group and Meyer already have AVB functionality.  Imagine the ability to do speaker processing from a "plug-in"?  Oh, and get rid of a bunch of analog cabling.  Well, for now we'll have to imagine it as this one is still a "prototype", but the fact that they are showing it operational at a show and showing that they are committed to developing with AVnu...  pretty exciting.

  1. I'm actually kinda disappointed in the iPad app, it appears they are just repackaging iTeleport. I'd like to see them actually have an app that doesn't rely on vnc. I'm really looking forward to venuelink though, that will make life easier for sure.
